Snow condition
More than there has ever been in recent years. Some runs have a meter-deep snow cover. Other places are heavily blown off or cleared by avalanches.
Snow quality
South side now has a decent cover. North side partly fine powder. There was a lot of wind in many places. Route selection is important if you want good snow.
Risks
Lots of drift snow and huge cornices in places where there have never been any before. Some entrances are currently not possible. The drift snow is very easy to recognize and can be avoided, and the snow cover from the previous snowfalls has settled well. The sun of the last few days has been a great help.
Overall impression
Nice tour today. Unfortunately we weren't so lucky with the snow. Next time again.
