Well, it's white from 500 m upwards. Then it gets a bit more, but even at 1100 m it's barely 20 cm. That's a bit low. I'm afraid it looks like that in the whole Black Forest. We've checked all the webcams from north to south and yes, it's white everywhere, but it's only good enough for skiing with a lot of good will. It was much better the last few years (and earlier). It even drizzled briefly below 1000 m around midday.

Snow quality

Far too warm, even at >1150 m it was still around 0 degrees, below it was well above zero. The best snowman-building snow from bottom to top, optionally also suitable for a snowball fight. Unfortunately, it was far too sticky to really enjoy skiing.

Risks

As my colleague Max has already written for the Belchen, the greatest danger at the moment comes from only slightly covered, frozen molehills, branches and larger stones.

Start of the season in the Black Forest. The long absence of white gold drove us outside to a remote spot in the Black Forest. At least there was practically nothing going on and we were able to enjoy the beautiful winter atmosphere in peace. However, you don't really want to get into the swing of things if you care about your health. To be really fun, it has to snow at least as much and be a few degrees colder. Let's see if we can do more next WE.
