Snow report Bregenzerwald, 01/14/2014
Schritt für Schritt gehts weiter - in der Vermutung das es in Damüls derzeit fast am Besten ist im Vorarlberg.

Snow condition
It remains at 2 stars - but! Just because the stones are slightly covered - if they slowly disappear there is ***. The "shoemaker dangers" lurk everywhere - and the surface also has to suffer from time to time. Overall, however, it is now really usable on open areas - in the forest it's still dead. 30c of the measuring stations are not correct, but it does get close to 20cm in places.
Snow quality
The whole thing is very finely crystalline. Wears well and is easy to ride. Some of the old harsh tops are still coming through. The crust of the last few days is gone - and that's where the problems start.
Risks
There are some exposures that make you go crazy. In Damüls in particular, there was a lot of sliding from north to west today. In general, anything steeper than 35° was really uncomfortable to ski. The snow itself has a very weak bond with each other and that makes it unusually tingly when skiing. The old snow hasn't bonded very well with the old snow so far, so you should keep an eye on that over the next few days.
Overall impression
Except for the open areas where stones were sticking out, it was fantastic this morning. Hardly any people until 11:00 and in terms of kilometers I did more by 12:00 than on Epiphany all day. Bluebird and powder are always great.
