Snow condition

In the upper part of the Unterberghorn in Kössen, there was a good enough base. However, we are still only talking about maximum thicknesses of just under one meter. It is usually much less. Around 30 cm. In the lower part, the snow cover decreases exponentially until it is no longer present in the valley.

Snow quality

2 von 5 Sterne

Fluffy at the top in shady areas. In sunny areas with a light cover, which is usually softened and rarely frozen, and the usual water battle at the bottom.

Risks

Today's avalanche situation was estimated at a 2 below 1600m, especially for the Chiemgau Alps, and a 3 above that. The situation in Tyrol is similar and somewhat worse. Hence this tour in the ski area.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

The snow was great fun to ride. Always very grippy and rarely in contact with the ground. Not a powder dream, of course, except for the first 2 turns, but this winter is very modest anyway.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
