Exit at 17 degrees in les Fontanettes. Very wet up to 2500 m from midday. No stones, just a bit of grass peeking out. But there was actually enough snow

Snow quality

There is still powder-like snow on the north side under a crust of melt. Otherwise, the snow surface is strongly influenced by the wind and very hard in the morning. Super slushy to ride when softened

Risks

In the meantime, the situation has eased somewhat. The previous days there was a 4 due to a lot of drift snow and large weak layers plus warming. By Saturday, a lot had fallen on the south side and no renewed activity could be observed during the days. The main danger is wet snow avalanches, followed by north-facing slopes with old drift snow.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

A great 2-day tour over the Vanoise glacier to Pointe de la Rechasse with an overnight stay in the Refuge de Col de la Vanoise. Other great tour options have been spotted. The high should continue to bob up and down, so a spring-like week of touring lies ahead.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
