For ski tours in the Black Forest, you now have to start over 900-1000 meters above sea level, the rain and the warm weather have taken away a lot of snow. However, there is still enough snow on the summits, so that the usual routes in the Feldberg region are feasible.

Is it Christmas or the end of March? Crampons would be very useful on many a shady ascent. The sun had turned the south-facing slopes into beautiful firn snow by midday. It was very icy on the shaded side today and not really to be recommended, cruising on firn makes much more sense and is much more fun.

Risks

At the moment, the most likely scenario is a damp slide or the cornices breaking, see also the photo, which already looks quite threatening.

Escaped the Christmas hustle and bustle again today and enjoyed the sun up in the mountains.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
