At the end of October, I was skiing the Rotegg, the connection from the glacier to the stand. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the first skiers plunging down the slope. And of course I had to try it out. Ok, it's not deep snow skiing, but at least it's a bit of freeriding. You have to look for the route between the rock bands, but it's easy to get down without coming into contact with rocks. That gives it 3 stars at the beginning of the season. On the glacier itself, the crevasses are still wide open. Even those who go up the Great Titlis must exercise caution and know the area well. It still takes a lot of snow to fill in the crevasses. Probably more than in any previous year.

I was also surprised by the quality of the snow. Good powder. And next to the slopes, it's windswept but has good grip. It can go on like this....

Risks

Small at the moment. However, with all the fresh snow expected at the weekend, this is likely to change abruptly.

A really good and beautiful day on the Titlis. Good snow, beautiful weather, but also lots of people because of All Saints' Day. Ski clubs from all over Central Switzerland are flocking to the Titlis - because nothing else is open yet. Now we're keeping our fingers crossed that Mrs. Holle will shake out every last flake over Central Switzerland at the weekend and that the temperatures will be low enough for it to snow all the way down to Engelberg. Then the basis for a good winter season will be created. Incidentally, the mountain railroads are planning to open the ski slopes between Stand and Trübsee from November 11.
