Snow condition

Very sufficient snow cover from top to bottom. Up to the parking lot of the Hochgratbahn at 800m and further everything is very deeply snowed in and even in the forest there is enough snow for a free choice of lines.

Snow quality

Very nice snow in the eastern gullies of the Nagelfluhkette. On the north side it's still really good and dusting around if there was no wind. The south side is already pretty damp and there's already a layer of hard snow in places or it's just wet as a poodle during the day. North-facing descents are very rewarding over the next few days. 40 cm of beautiful powder await. The downside is that you should ski where it has fallen without wind.

Unfortunately, the wind delivered a few big snow drifts and large cornices were visible. The north-east direction was particularly affected. Unfortunately also where the good snow was densely packed today. On the south side, there were a few small wet snow slides in addition to huge fish mouths. Surprisingly, in the moderately steep clearing area at about 1400 m in the forest, there was a small snow slab about 40 cm deep, which probably came off spontaneously, I suspect due to snow-covered surface frost. This was mentioned in the LLB a few days ago. Could soon occur over a larger area: Large parts of the north side of the Nagelfluh between approx. 900m and 1200 m (probably higher but not verifiable) have a pronounced layer of surface frost. You should keep an eye on this, especially in the forest with new snowfall. This may be reduced by strong warming over the next few days.

Overall impression

Dream day with a glitter guarantee. We had something from all exposures across all altitudes today and almost always good snow. On the north side, with the necessary caution, great runs will also be possible over the next few days
