Snow condition
The snow conditions are also good in the Zillertal. You can get down to the Zillergrund on the forest road without any problems and you can still ski forest tracks in the lower areas. Further up, where the wind has blown, some ridges have blown off.
Snow quality
The snow quality was very dependent on the exposure. At the very top on the north side, it was influenced by the wind. A little further down, the powder snow settled and at the very bottom, the snow was also much heavier on the north side. On the west side, where the sun reaches more, it already has a lid. But on the descent, it's more likely to be broken snow. So either look for settled powder on the north side or for firn on the south side.
Risks
In the meantime, the only danger comes from sliding snow avalanches and wet loose snow slides. There have already been a few gliding snow avalanches on steep, sunny meadow slopes.
Overall impression
Beautiful ski tour to the Ahornspitze. Of course, this is no longer an unknown tour and so there was a lot going on the days before and on Saturday. Nevertheless, there was still a long north-facing descent with relatively good snow, which was nice to ski on. Just enough for a 4-star day :)
