Snow condition

Over the last two days, I have undertaken 2 short ski tours in the Ammergau mountains. Yesterday I found untracked powder snow with a southerly exposure. Today I was on the north side due to the sun. The snow conditions are good. Nevertheless, the high temperatures yesterday and today have affected the snow on the sunny side.

Snow quality

Yesterday morning, as I said, I still encountered wind-pressed powder in a southerly exposure (picture with a skier dressed in black). However, it was still very good to ski. Today, however, it wouldn't have been so good. In the shade today, the snow surface was heterogeneous and still powdery in places (picture with orange skier). The high temperatures in particular affected the snow quality today.

Risks

Note diurnal warming.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
