The Austrian Freeride Series kicks off its second season with the 1* Qualifier Open Faces Hochkönig on February 1st. At ten stops in four federal states, freeriders will be battling for no less than 9340 FW Qualifier points and the title of Austrian Freeride Champion over the coming months.
Ten stops in four federal states, in Austria alone 9340 Freeride World Qualifier points will be distributed over the next nine weeks in the battle for a starting place in the Freeride World Tour. The first chance to collect points will be at the Open Faces Hochkönig on February 1st. At the 1-star qualifier in Maria Alm, up-and-coming freeriders will prove their skills on a face that was the basis for creative lines and super performances by skiers and snowboarders last year. Once again, there will be a public area for all spectators at the foot of the "Stoana Mandl" contest slope, where fans will be provided with information and background knowledge about the participating riders, music, moderation and much more. From the Open Faces Hochkönig, it's off to Hochfügen, Axamer Lizum, Goldeck, Kappl-Paznaun and Pitztal. On March 9, the Austrian Freeride Series will be back in Salzburg, where the Open Faces Uttendorf-Weissee will celebrate its premiere, also a 1-star contest where rookies can earn their first spurs. Then, on March 15, it's off to Ländle for the first time, where the Open Faces Silvretta Montafon will be held as a 3-star qualifier. The most legendary competition in the Austrian Freeride Series is the X Over Ride, which is taking place for the eleventh time in the Zell am See-Kaprun region on the Kitzsteinhorn. The finale of the Austrian Freeride Series will then be celebrated again on March 29 in Tyrol, at the 4* FWQ in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.
