On March 16, 2013, the Nebelhorn Classics freeride race will take place in Oberstdorf for the 13th time. Skiers, snowboarders and telemark skiers will compete for the coveted title - the Nebelhorn Classics Challenge Cup - at Germany's most famous freeride competition. Provided that the weather and snow conditions allow, the race starts on Saturday, March 16 at 11.00 am at the Nebelhorn summit. The spectacular race, in which only a few directional gates off the slopes roughly define the route, leads over an altitude difference of around 1000 meters from the summit down to the Seealpe.
The categories - Ski, Snowboard, Team & Kingsize
In the so-called King Size classification, those participants who complete the race course three times on the various winter sports equipment ski, snowboard and telemark start. Three-person teams consisting of one snowboarder, one telemark skier and one skier can compete together as a team.
Strong local competition
The Allgäu freeride scene regularly shows what the local riders are capable of at the Nebelhorn Classics. At the 2012 edition of the Nebelhorn Classics, the podium places were almost exclusively occupied by Allgäu freeriders who knew how to make the most of their home advantage. Whether the Allgäu riders will manage such a dominant performance again in 2013 will certainly also depend on the number of top riders from other Alpine regions.
Party and ski/snowboard test
On Saturday, a ski test will take place in the finish area of the Seealpen, where there will be the opportunity to test new skis from the Nebelhorn Classics sponsors and partners. On Saturday evening, the legendary Nebelhorn Classics Party will take place in the Hörbar from 9 pm.
