Mont Blanc West and the Marinelli Couloir - sounds exciting? Mont Blanc West and the Marinelli Couloir with Sam Anthamatten and Vivian Bruchez as guides - sounds even better? Then apply for the Julbo White Sessions. At the Julbo White Sessions, an experienced amateur gets the opportunity to go skiing with Julbo athletes. Last year, Sam Favret showed the winner his favorite freeride spots in Chamonix. This year, Sam Anthamatten and Vivian Bruchez set the - slightly different - tone. Instead of backcountry kickers, two absolutely classic steep face tours are on the program: the Mont Blanc West Face and the Marinelli Couloir on Monte Rosa. Both lines are to be climbed and skied within a 10-day time frame. Should the conditions not play along, it can be assumed that worthy alternatives will be found.
Anthamatten and Bruchez are both mountain guides and proven steep face experts. Their list of summits and descents is long and impressive, both for skiing and climbing. Anthamatten is also a member of the Freeride World Tour and has increasingly been seen in film projects in recent years, for example in Mission Steeps with Xavier de la Rue and Andreas Fransson, as well as in this year's Degrees North. Bruchez last made a name for himself in December when he and Killian Jornet achieved a spectacular first ascent of the Aiguille du Chardonnet. You can see that he is also constantly on the move on facebook and instagram: he has a pleasantly unagitated social media presence with great pictures of great mountains - follow recommended. The lines planned for the White Session event are challenging both on the ascent and the descent. Appropriate mountain experience and skiing skills are of course a necessary prerequisite and must be demonstrated accordingly when applying (tour list, photo, video).
