The market launch of the Salomon "Quest Pro and Quest Pro Pebax" freeride ski boots with tech inserts has been postponed indefinitely. The Alpine models are not affected by this and can already be purchased in stores.
As we reported back in the summer, there were some material and construction-related problems with the new Quest freeride ski boot range from Salomon. Salomon USA recalled all previous buyers and users of the Salomon Quest freeride ski boots officially produced for the 2010/2011 season. Only the Quest Pro and Quest Pro Pebax models with tech inserts or the corresponding interchangeable soles are affected by this recall, as there were problems with this newly developed binding system.
In the short time since this problem became known, Salomon has been unable to develop an adequate new insert concept. Consequently, the market launch of the affected freeride boots has been postponed. It can be assumed that a new solution concept will be developed and presented within the current season. The affected models are expected to be available in stores for the 2011/2012 season.
Background
As we mentioned in the summer in our Communityhttp://www.powderguide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=649, there were several cases of torn tech inserts in the new Quest ski boot line. One of the affected buyers suffered a severe knee injury. A verdict has not yet been reached as the court proceedings are still ongoing. Any statements about the accident are therefore not being made by either side for legal reasons.
As a result of this accident, Salomon launched a recall campaign in North America and attempted to rectify the problems that had arisen. As, according to Salomon Germany, only just under a dozen pairs of shoes were in circulation among opinion leaders in Europe, there was no recall.
