The Imbachhorn towers prominently above Zell am See in the Pinzgau region, whose north-facing cirque leaves a rather inhospitable impression. From the east, however, the mountain offers a somewhat longer but rewarding ski tour, which is frequently tackled but almost always offers untracked slopes in perfect skiing terrain.

Away from the manageable ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn, there are many opportunities to escape the general tourist hustle and bustle on a tour. One option leads via the Langwied area to the Tristkogel with a descent via Dietersbachkar towards Piesendorf and a counter ascent to the Maiskogel.
