So it's finally winter after all. Nice. There's a lot and a lot more relatively mediocre backseat skiing from wannabe skiers with wannabe face shots. Instead of GoPro monkeys, there's a plate of colorful things. Torches, avalanches, a gay hairdresser and baguettes.

"It's finally that time again!" Press releases like to use this phrase when they can't think of anything to say about the obvious. So, it's finally that time again! Winter is here. And with it, a flood of selfies of mediocre and glorious powder, which we'd rather spare you here. Please use Instagram/Snapchat/Facebook for this. After all, we're here to post the best videos of the week. Eh voila:

Crazy, crazy, still no pow! It's silly when you book your high-class ski vacation with a Freeride World Tour athlete and there's no snow. Fortunately, there are people who want to buy their dream and those who want to experience it. The VdW save you the agony of the PNW/BC powder videos. You don't deserve this torture.

Oops, we've slipped into something again. Just in time for the new year, a little spark of winter hope is germinating in the Alps. A little precipitation, a little colder than sunbathing in Malle. You get modest. Reason enough to review the best of the Internet week.

Snow is white and frozen H2O, wanted to capture the Videos of the Week again. Today's fast-paced world forgets so quickly. Here's the weekly proof that snow actually used to exist. Even more natural, by the way. Who was still sweating in the Christmas service yesterday?

The alpine valleys are generally complaining about the lack of snow. And as soon as there is no snow, people don't just moan, they conjure up the demise of Alpine ski culture. The solution: we build a new lift, or better yet, several. And we'll build more snow cannons and then have ball throwing as a freeride opening (cover picture: FB Axamer Lizum). How lucky we are to have the Videos of the Week. At least on the screen it looks like winter.

The PowderAlert is making the disappearing act and even Meteomorris from the Dutch is already writing off December as a powder month. Well then, cheers meal. In the meantime, the remaining patches of artificial snow on the brownish alpine meadows are melting away. At least the world looks reasonably rosy again after four mulled wines in the evening. But there are still some videos of the week worth seeing. From grass skiing with Candide to the Instagram Husband and action-packed Alaskalines. Cheers!

New week, new video luck. 4Front release their team video, a crazy Swiss guy is now riding steep walls at supersonic speed and there's already so much snow in North America that it's possible to do some nice pillow runs.

Northwest traffic jam! A truly beautiful word. Sounds about as round as it brings lots of snow to Austria. If you suffer with the author and don't get any snow, at least you have some fresh Videos of the Week. We ramble from the white rush of 1931 to this week's powder turns from Baker. The social media haven't brought us any useful news for the Alps yet, but that will probably change next week.

We should celebrate, says this social media. Alternatively, it suggests that Muslims are to blame for everything. Presumably also for the general lack of snow and the bad winter. After all, there used to be fewer Muslims here and the winters were better. We see a clear correlation here! Sounds like bullshit? Well, it could be. Better to take the alternative and celebrate skiing. But the snowboarders are not allowed to join in. We're taking that much freedom to exclude this fringe sport this week... What a wonderful week it has been. There's still only homeopathic snow, of course, but there's autumn gold wherever you look. And video gold too.
