Snow condition
As usual in the area - well below average. Wind and weather have had a massive impact on the snow conditions. Exposed terrain is heavily blown off and some tours, even at high altitudes, are no longer possible. Hollows etc. Are well filled. Ridges are often blown off and icy. Deep layers are only covered in snow. As is usually the case at this time of year, you have to start a little higher (1000m). Generally speaking, the north is much better. Where the wind is less raging, the lagr is good.
Snow quality
Everything like yesterday, only worse. Everything from bare ice to 30cm of drift snow. Almost everywhere heavily compacted and exhausting to ride. You can even feel the wind in the dense forest. There was still good snow in a few places, but it was rare.
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
As we already observed yesterday, the loads are immense. Mostly only of small thickness. Sometimes massive behind hilltops. Great caution is required there. Especially above the tree line, the wind effects are very strong. For the next few days, I'll have to keep my feet still. The drift snow will quickly be snowed in, especially in open terrain. As the wind came from everywhere and was constantly shifting, you can hardly limit it. You can't rely on a clear leeward expo.
Overall impression
A few good runs, then the lifts closed. Unfortunately, not much was possible. So there was enough time to make a stop at the magic fridge. The farm store sells great quality cakes and pastries every day. Recommended for a short stopover.Ellenbogen 162 Ellenbogen 162, 6870 Bezau g.co/kgs/5KPCpk
