Best snow conditions in the Mangfallgebirge this season. Today we started again from approx. 820 m. Two weeks ago it was all about carrying, today it was massive track work. At the start on the north side it was around 20 cm+, at around 950 m it was already around 40 cm and rising towards the top. There was no contact with the enemy today either.

Powder snow

Absolutely top! Compared to the last two days, we found a sheltered basin today where there was no wind influence (we were traveling <1600 m). Beautiful fine powder snow that had already settled a little.

Risks

Much fresh snow
Much water in the snow cover
North North-Eas West North-West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

As mentioned above, there was fortunately no wind here today and consequently no drift snow accumulations. We couldn't see any dangers in today's terrain, which was around 30 degrees. The only thing we could see on the ascent was a very small loose snow slide from very steep terrain. Due to the limited visibility, we could also see little of the neighboring terrain. Today's precipitation was often accompanied by sleet. The issued level 3 fits, because there is a lot of drift snow where the wind was in play (see last two days).

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

A fine, lonely day with very good snow and decent track work. You didn't get the feeling that it was already mid-March and that winter had already been declared almost over here several times.
