Overall impression
Top, top, top! It could hardly be better. I've never seen so much fresh snow and such a good base in the Jungfrau Region. It has been snowing almost non-stop since Sunday evening until today. Last weekend there was still a lot of wind/storm, then it was practically wind-free. Today, the Eiger and Wetterhorn showed themselves very briefly in a completely white dress, the likes of which have rarely been seen before. It snowed on and off all day today too, but visibility was acceptable and we were able to ski everything on Salzegg. Yesterday I also went on a ski tour towards Gr. Scheideg... The snow is meters deep there too. The amount of snow is just below the all-time maximum. Despite fresh snow of over a meter, I didn't see any booming noises or spontaneous avalanches. This is probably due to the lack of windy precipitation and, on the other hand, the snow should bind better at this time of year than was the case in the height of winter. This snow is worth its weight in gold for the high mountains and glaciers. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Freeride suggestions can be found in the Freeride Guide Jungfrau Region (www.freerideguide.ch)
