Descent through forest

The snow conditions on the north side are very good after the last snowfalls. Skiing down into the valley and through the forest is possible everywhere without any problems. The mountain pines are also so well covered that you will find nice pillows and soft landings.

Powder snow

Very nice powder in the forest, lying on a well-consolidated and stable snowpack. About 30 cm of powder at the top, about 15 cm at the bottom, which was perfectly adequate and much better than expected.

Risks

North North-Eas North-West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

No avalanches were observed. The old snow cover is very stable and there was hardly any drift snow. However, as we were only in the north-facing forest, this statement cannot be generalized for other exposures and altitudes.

Worse

There are places that simply deliver more often than the Mjam riders in Innsbruck at the moment. The Stubai Valley is one of them at the moment. The descent through the forest awaited us with an unexpected amount of powder and here you don't have to worry about the "Stubai-typical sharks" (ChevChelios, 2021). Over the next few days, there should still be plenty to do on the north side, provided there aren't too many tracks from other skiers thwarting our plans! All in all, a good powder day with an unexpected amount of sunshine and significantly more powder than expected.
