Exposition
Snow condition
It's still quite ok, but of course it decreases rapidly at lower altitudes. In the dense forest below approx. 1100-1000m, things get tight. But you can still slide down into the valley on some forest roads. We had to carry our bikes twice on the descent. Gullies and incised cirques are well filled on average, free ridges and the like are sometimes quite bare.
Snow quality
Unfortunately, the overall snow quality is negatively affected by the warmth. It is getting heavier and heavier in the middle layers towards the bottom, but remains nice and soft almost everywhere. Above the tree line, wind influence is increasing in exposed areas. At the very bottom it was slushy-felty or icy, but the former was also ok to ski in the narrower and steeper areas of the tour.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The snow cover is soft and there are lots of smaller rollers and sliding snow slides in the steep terrain of the middle altitudes. Above the tree line, everything is more compact.
Overall impression
A bit of adventure skiing, because we wanted to ski a steep gully, which we would have done if we hadn't been an hour late. At half past ten, after amazingly good morning weather, it was unfortunately completely closed from 1700 m and there was hardly any visibility in the challenging terrain. 2. we got a bit lost in the dense forest and had to do some bushwhacking and 3. the steep and narrow forest path at the bottom had a bit of a bobsleigh track feeling. But with the right spirit, the right company and a desire to shred, even days like this can be really cool.
