Variations of snow cover

A lot has melted since last weekend, no wonder with 25 degrees in the Rhine valley and a good 15 degrees at the summit. From Rinken and Stollenbach it's just about possible with a bit of carrying. Baldenweger Buck and Zastler are still going well.

Wet snow
Slush
Summer snow
Jelly snow

Pretty soggy snow cover. Only a few shady spots in the Zastler were a bit "harder", otherwise everything was nice and slushy to sluggish...

Risks

Much water in the snow cover

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Risk of sunburn and risk of cornice breakage during the day.

Was this the last ski tour in the Black Forest for this very varied winter? Very little snow early on, then 4 crazy days in January with perfect powder lines between cherry trees in Badisch Columbia and then the great warmth in February, which ate away almost the entire snow cover. Now with the new snow in March, we have a few more beautiful days. You're pretty much on your own now, and let's see if anything significant comes down again. Apart from that, today was a nice finish in a T-shirt, fantastic weather and very little wearing. All in all, it was a very good season in the Black Forest.
