Descent to valley (to 1700 m)

Skiing down to the valley is still possible without any problems. The snow conditions haven't changed much since last week. It only looks a little worse on the south side, where the snow continues to pile up. In the ski area itself, however, all variants are still skiable, some with more and some with less shark danger.

Powder snow

If you are still looking for powder snow, you can currently still find it on the north and north-east side above approx. 2800m. The higher you get, the fluffier it gets (where the wind hasn't blown it away). Otherwise, you can find all kinds of snow in the other exposures at the moment. However, as we were only on the north and north-east side of the slope, I can't give an exact assessment.

Risks

Diurnal warming
West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

The main danger at the moment is probably wet snow avalanches from sunny terrain. A large slide was visible near the Gamsgarten middle station. Otherwise, there were a few small, wet, loose snow slides. Good time planning is important, tours should be finished in good time. The LWD also warns of an old snow problem on the north side above 2600m. I have not noticed any avalanches in the area in this regard, but you should keep this in mind.

Worse

Once again a nice steep slope on the Stubai Glacier. I also found good powder snow on the flank and in the run-out and hadn't skied a single line before. Have all the Stubai Glacier warriors already finished their season?
