Variations of snow cover

From Saturday to Sunday, 30 cm of snow fell on the Stubai Glacier. However, in some places this was not enough to restore the snow conditions of 1.5 weeks ago. In many areas there is less snow than average. However, with a defensive choice of route and the handbrake on, you can also ski a few variants in the upper area relatively safely.

Strong wind influence, therefore pressed powder in places and bare in others. Mixed skiing.

Crevasse or fall danger
South

Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)

The strong wind has already formed a few impressive snow packs, some of which are better left undisturbed. Further down in the valley, the relatively mild temperatures are making themselves felt. Here, the first masses of snow came down from the typical rocky slopes.

Overall impression

Worse

Started with low expectations and was even able to make a few nice runs. The wind and the partly diffuse visibility were compensated by a small crowd and the first powder turns ?
