Snow condition
Extremely varied distribution. The mountain range is also very exposed to the wind. Anywhere is good enough for the ascent, if necessary on grass with an ice crust, for the descent you just have to look for the good spots. There was 10-15cm of fresh snow here. You could get through on old tracks, but there were also places next to them where it was great.
Snow quality
Everything except wet snow. Beautiful powder snow in the forest aisles. The crust, on which you can almost always get through, is usually load-bearing on the descent.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Altitude: 800 m – 1500 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The drift snow on the crust is quite easy to trigger. But where I was out and about, it was too small-scale and too little snow for any real danger. The wind was still blowing a bit, but was getting weaker. At the entrance to Immenstädter Horn Nordhang, an avalanche spontaneously broke loose. However, it didn't turn into anything major because the slope itself was practically swept clean.
Overall impression
Found better snow than expected. As both the snow conditions and the quality were so varied, we should have given it 2.5 stars. Half a star for the sun and the fact that there was nothing going on.
