Powder Skitour entpuppt sich als Triebschnee Scouting.
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Altitude
800 - 1600m
Avalanche warning level
considerable (3)
Exposition
Snow condition
locally very good for December (sheltered from the wind) other places very poor. see photos
Snow quality
Powdery snow, often with wind in it, deep but not very soft and loose. About sleet and most of it bound
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Drifting snow in all directions. Crossing into a small steep slope in the sparse forest let a deliberately provoked board go down. about 35 cm crack height. height fluctuating about7 m board. run-out about 15 m
Overall impression
not enough in the forest yet. too slow in the glades. too dangerous above the forest. almost nothing at some spots. enough elsewhere... there is a lot of snow for December. a good base for the foothills too, even if the altitudes vary greatly locally. Some of the wind-prone mountain flanks are free of snow right up to the grass, right up to the summit. 2km further on you can sink your pole right up to your hand.
