Snow condition
You can reach the valley on the emergency descent. There are a few stones in it, mainly from avalanche cones from the Mittagskogel Ost Face
Snow quality
Over 2700m powder snow loosely fine, minimally touched by the sun on the surface but still dusty. There was no crust on the south side. Even the drift snow and wind-pressed snow was soft and super skiable thanks to the sun. Other sections were of course totally hard-packed and terrible. On the flat Mittelbergferner in some places it was totally loose, uninfluenced powder snow and nice to ski. But unfortunately flat, but avalanche safe.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Large snow slab below the Mittelbergbahn below the summit station in the off-piste area with a very large run-out. I've never seen anything of this size here before. Below the north-east side of the Linker Fernerkogel there is also a medium-sized snow slab with a crack height of 50 cm. The hanging Ferner has slipped down to the bare ice in places and is currently not skiable.
Overall impression
Still very good snow for the current conditions. Somewhat flat terrain today but in a great environment
