Snow quality

today was the coldest day in a long time, but it even snowed in the south and south-west steep slopes!

the lawi still warns of drifting snow and an old snow problem. yesterday, with winds >60km/h from the north, there was still some drifting, but it was too little to slide over a large area. the old snow problem can be easily avoided on the load-bearing crust. firn-covered stielst flanks should be skied rather carefully. there was a deeper collapse today.

Overall impression

ab heute werden die tage wieder länger. "d.h. der winter hat bereits verloren, er weiss es nur noch nicht". mit der akt. wetterlage wird sich in den kommenden tagen hier im gebiet wenig ändern. neuschnee wäre gut. der wird aber auf der total verharschten altschneeoberfläche erst mal nicht so gut halten.
