Variations of snow cover

Even though it is getting considerably less on the south side, the snow conditions are excellent for the time of year. 1-1.5 m at 2000 m. Downhill skiing up to caa 1500 m possible.

Snow quality

4 von 5 Sterne
Hard, pressed snow
Breakable crust
Wet snow

Classic spring conditions: softened very early on the south side, frozen as hard as a rock on the north side (which does not change because the sun is still low)

Risks

Diurnal warming
North-West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Due to the rain and the high temperatures we saw a few ground avalanches today -> all south and east facing

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

Just under 3 stars: everything is doable, but the fun factor is limited due to the quality of the snow. Nice little tour near Formigueres to the Serre de Maury. It stays warm for 2 more days, then supplies arrive.
