Exposition
Snow condition
The base has been negatively affected by the long spring-like conditions. Several terrain traps such as streams or ditches are now inviting injuries again. On the sunny side, the terrain is quite high and there is not enough snow to ski down. A defensive skiing style is generally advisable.
Snow quality
By shortly after midday, around 20 cm of cold fresh snow had fallen. Unfortunately, this lies on a rock-hard surface and you notice it constantly when riding. Flat terrain is a great advantage. Heavily tracked terrain before the snowfall is more of an "I have to go" affair. Fresh snow 3 stars, hard surface 1 star makes a total of 2 stars.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
The wind was noticeable at the tree line. Below that, the precipitation arrived without much wind influence. We were only below the tree line. The fresh snow lies on a hard base and can therefore be easily disturbed with increasing steepness.
Overall impression
After "spring" and several days on the slopes, we finally have fresh snow under our feet again. Let's hope that the winter stays and the conditions get much better again. A start has been made once again.
