Variations of snow cover

Absolutely below-average snow conditions, on the south side it feels like there is only a completely closed snow cover from 2,000 meters upwards. On the north side, there is little snow below 1,600 meters, but you can also get down quite well in the forest. In terrain close to the ridge and exposed to the wind, there is little snow, but even on wind-protected slopes, there are still lots of stones sticking out, some of them large. Unfortunately, the slopes look more like the end of April than mid-January at the moment, so 1-1.5 meters of fresh snow would certainly be good to make the winter an average one in terms of precipitation...

Firn
Powder snow

On the north side, the snow quality is good considering that it hasn't snowed for about a week and has been quite warm in between. In wind-protected gullies and hollows as well as in the forest, you can find good, somewhat consolidated powder snow or lightly covered powder snow. Conditions near the ridge are hard because the snow has blown off. Everything that has been in the sun longer is either heavily capped or damp, although with good time management you should also find some firn on the south side.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
Diurnal warming

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

The risk of falling or slipping currently outweighs the risk of avalanches. On the north side, some of the slopes close to the crest have been blown in, but are very well connected to the old snow cover. On the south side, you should not be out too late in the warm temperatures due to potential wet snow slides.

Worse

A really nice day in the Navistal, beautiful ski tour, good views, lots of sun and the snow was actually quite ok. You can give it 3 stars, although the good weather is actually responsible for 2 of the 3 stars. However, it's about time for a decent amount of fresh snow, otherwise the base for spring will soon have completely melted on the south side (if it hasn't already in places)... If you're looking for good snow, you should find it at least tomorrow in north-facing, wind-protected locations.
