Snow condition

Sufficient snow conditions on the Jamtalferner and Ochsental glaciers. But be careful when choosing your lines. Some crevasse zones are still to be enjoyed with caution.

Snow quality

over 1600m about 5 cm of fresh snow. much of it blown into hollows. here in places 20 cm and more drift snow

Quite a strong westerly wind has blown a lot of snow to the east into the lee side of the slopes and saddles. The Ochsenscharte has a huge cornice that has to be negotiated, but it goes well if you keep to the right. on the Jamtalferner there is a lot of fresh drift snow. Even in 30 degree steep terrain it breaks up, but doesn't slide off due to the steepness. for me today was a 2 and not a 1

Overall impression

We took advantage of the last sunny days before the fresh snow. Overall snow conditions could be better, but the skis stay intact on glacier ground.
