Snow condition
Good snow conditions on the Nordkette, in the variant area of the 3er Stütze lift the pines are well closed and you can just about get down to Hungerburg without coming into contact with rocks (via the 3er descent, 2er looks worse). There is also good snow in the gullies at the top, but some of the ridges are completely blown away.
Snow quality
At the top of the Seegrube about 40cm of good powder snow, but already with wind influence. Therefore no champagne powder, but still great to ski. Unfortunately, the amount of fresh snow quickly decreases towards the bottom, so it's only really worthwhile up to the height of the 3-seater support lift (approx. 1650m). Further down, you notice the crust of hard snow and below 1300m it has already become sticky anyway. Very slow snow at the bottom.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Altitude: 1600 m – 1900 m
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
The Hafelekar was closed, the wind had done a good job at the top and transported a lot of snow. The fresh drift snow is probably still susceptible to disturbance. Otherwise, watch out for gliding snow and gliding snow mouths that have since been covered with snow again (there is a large crack in the eastern slope).
Overall impression
Very nice freeride day on the Nordkette, with relatively few people. It was sufficiently deep at the top and was enough for a few good laps on the 3-post. Unfortunately, the good days on the Nordkette are numbered for this winter.
