Very dry overall here in the Western Alps. The ice is coming out over a large area on the glacier near Tignes / Grand Motte. Much of it has been blown away by the wind. At 3400m whole flanks are bare. Absolutely below average for March

Snow quality

Hard, pressed snow
Breakable crust
Powder snow

Grippy, crushed powder. Good for steep descents. Little ice or hard tops as it has remained quite cold since the last snowfall. still powder snow in the shade. a bit windswept but still good

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Hard snow surface on the east side should be treated with caution in the morning as soon as there is a risk of falling! No fresh signs of avalanches far and wide.

Overall impression

Good conditions for steep walls. The north side is still quite good. In the Val d'Isere ski area, there is only good snow on the north side and on the steep side.
