Snow condition

It's getting worse quickly at the moment. But there is still something in the more sheltered cirques, gullies and flanks. The same goes for the really high karst areas. On forest roads, you can still get down to 1000 m, but there are also some passages further up that are already loose. The roads have often been milled. A bike makes sense for me almost everywhere.

Snow quality

Not so bad, but not so good either. There were a lot of tracks on my variant and they were quite rough, others in the morning sun were almost too deep again. There was good compact firn and summer firn, but not too abundant. Down in the shady forest it was still pretty hard in the afternoon.

I left relatively late at 13:00. Everything was still quite compact on the NE side. It looks different on the south side, but there's not much snow there anyway. The cold reserve isn't incredibly large, but it's not swampy on the shady side and still frosty at night.

Overall impression

Schon leider ganz schön warm. Wahnsinnssicht und schöne Blicke gehabt, der Schnee ist fahrbar ohne zu glänzen. So spät ist mir das aber eigentlich zu warm. Gut getimte Schneebedingungen sind nicht leicht möglich, außer man ist weit oben im umverspurtem Gelände mit moderater Sonneneinstrahlung. Mal schauen, ob sich noch mal was tut. Der Hochdruck des Todes bleibt aber wohl zumindest noch ein paar Tage.
