30 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 800 m)

Due to the snowfall, there was a winter comeback in the Mangfallgebirge after all. This morning at the start at 800 m approx. 15 cm of fresh snow. Thanks to the north-facing forest path, it was possible to ascend and descend on stone skis. From around 1300 m, there was up to 30 cm of fresh snow on bare ground or on the remains of old snow. You have to expect constant contact with the enemy and a cautious skiing style is an advantage for people and equipment.

Powder snow

Beautiful fluffy powder snow. Unfortunately, you can only enjoy it to a limited extent because there is hardly any base. If there had been a consistent base, we would have given it 4 stars today.

Risks

Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)

Relaxed touring day. The main danger today came from terrain traps. There was a bit of sluff in the steeper terrain with a base. The snowfall felt like it was the first time this winter without a hurricane/storm. LWS low <1600 m, moderate >1600 m.

Worse

Winter has made another visit to the Oberland. Yesterday, the amount of fresh snow was still too small. Today it was really worth it despite the fact that there was hardly any snow left.
