Snow condition

1 von 5 Sterne

The traces of summer are unfortunately still clearly visible, many large crevasse zones are still wide open. Even areas where you would otherwise have seen little or no crevasses in the fall. The opportunities for freeriding are currently very limited, so it's best not to leave the pistes without good local knowledge. Ice, crevasses and rocks are lurking. The snow conditions are sufficient for the pistes, downhill skiing to Tuxer Fernerhaus is possible without any problems (although very icy at the bottom).

Powder snow

In the steep, north-facing, high alpine terrain, the snow is still powdery, but has already settled considerably due to the relatively mild temperatures. In all exposures where the sun shines in for longer, the snow is also soaked right up to the top. However, it is quite pleasant on the piste when it gets a little softer. It is very icy on the final slope to the Tuxer Fernerhaus, where you can feel the influence of the artificial snow.

Risks

Crevasse or fall danger
South South-West

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

The risk of crevasses falling is certainly the main danger at the moment. Many crevasse zones are wide open and the snow bridges that have already formed should be assessed with caution.

Good start to the season on the Hintertux Glacier! It was actually planned more as an ice climbing and piste trip, but as the north-west flank of the Olperer looked good, at least a few nice turns could be made in the powder snow. The glacier hump is also a good place to start the ice climbing season in the fall, when there's not much else to do apart from skiing.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
