Snow condition

Visually, it doesn't look too bad due to the fresh snow down to the valley. But appearances are deceptive and there is no chance of off-piste skiing off the glacier up to very high altitudes. In typical Stubai fashion, we tried to take everything we could, of course, including the odd rock (but it was also Testival #Don't Be Gentle It's A Rental). However, caution is also advised on glacier ground, after the very warm summer some crevasse zones are still wide open and crevasses can be seen that were never visible in previous years. Some crevasses are only slightly blown over. It is therefore advisable to have a good knowledge of the area and an overview of the crevasses that are now slightly covered.

Snow quality

Good powder snow in the terrain, approx. 30-40 cm of fresh snow at high altitudes. There is some wind influence, so the amount of fresh snow varies and also ensures that the powder snow is not champagne powder. However, that's complaining on a high level, it was very easy to ski. Unfortunately, the slopes are more of a mixture of moderately groomed, bumpy and icy in places.

The risk of falling into crevasses and sharks is currently the main danger and should be taken into account. The fresh snow is still powdery and not settled, so some stones and crevasses are only slightly covered.

Overall impression

3x aufgefellt, 3x eine schöne Line in gutem Pulverschnee gezogen. Dazu noch super Wetter, klingt nach einem echten Traumtag. Allerdings muss dazu erwähnt werden, dass die Aufstiege und Abfahrten recht kurz waren (jeweils 150-200 hm) und abgesehen davon leider im Gelände noch nichts geht. Im Gebiet auch recht viel los, an den Liften Wartezeiten und die Pisten auch nicht wirklich berauschend. Ohne Felle wäre ich vermutlich recht schnell wieder heim gefahren, so war es aber doch ein ausgesprochen netter Frühwintertag.
