15 cm fresh snow

Unfortunately there isn't much snow yet, so it's good to know where there was already a base before the last snowfall. The powdery fresh snow makes everything look very nice. South-facing with a base and good ground (meadow, gravel cirques) is probably the best choice at the moment. There is no contact with the ground due to the compact cover of hard snow under the powder and wild snow. However, it only really makes sense to ski down to around 1700m at the moment, and a little lower if the meadow terrain is good.

Powder snow

Approx. 15cm of the finest wild snow lies on a sufficient layer of powder snow, underneath a compact but probably not too thick layer of old snow. Good sinking depth, incredibly powdery snow. Due to the cold temperatures and without the influence of wind, the snow hasn't gotten any worse.

Risks

North

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

In terms of avalanche danger, the south side is probably the most relaxed at the moment (no old snow problem). However, with the onset of wind, drift snow packs can now form there too, which can be easy to disturb on the very powdery snow surface.

Worse

Best day of the winter so far! Unbelievably powdery snow, no stone contact or snow cover to be felt, and lots of beautiful turns with a pleasant steepness.
