Snow condition

The snow conditions are well below average. In open terrain, the snow cover in the south to west exposures is closed from approx. 1,600 m, from just under 2,000 meters - with the right surface (= meadow slopes) - there is occasionally enough snow to make a few turns. Otherwise, there is little snow and a high risk of picking up stones, which can easily cause physical damage as well as material damage.

Snow quality

Partly good snow quality in Kappl, on unprepared pistes and in open terrain sometimes good powder, even if only 10-15 cm. The wind influence is quite low here in Paznaun.

The influence of wind and layers that have built up on the snow surface can be seen with the naked eye. In general, there is also a generally poor connection between the individual layers of the snowpack.

Overall impression

Naja, erster "Freeride" und Tourentag des Jahres, wobei das primäre Ziel war einfach mal rauszugehen und so die Conditions live zu beurteilen. Viel geht im Gebiet und bei den potenziellen Tourenzielen rund um Kappl nicht. Hoffen wir mal, dass sich die Schneesituation in Kürze verbessert.
