Variations of snow cover

Unchanged since yesterday, it's easy to get down into the valley and you can ski quite a lot with little/no rock contact. Unfortunately very little snow on the south side and very changeable in some gullies.

Powder snow
Wind drifted snow

Overnight there was another 15 cm on top of the 10 cm that had already fallen in the morning. In this respect, good snow quality, wind influence in places but quite good race POW in the Lizumer Kar.

Wind drifted snow

North North-Eas North-West

Intensity: medium

Risks

Old snow problem
Diurnal warming
Much fresh snow
Much water in the snow cover
North

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Attention must be paid to drift snow, the wind influence was not insignificant and in places the newly fallen snow is poorly bonded with the old snow. Due to the heavily tracked base in the Ampferstein area throughout the winter, the snow is somewhat better. In some places in the cirque, wet snow slides had already started during the warm phase.

Overall impression

Worse

Finally another good day of touring, twice up the wide gullies towards Ampferstein and actually almost the only ones on the cirque. However, if we didn't know the terrain and the ground well, we would have looked for something much flatter today.
