Snow condition

There is not enough snow in the forest to ski down, not even on the north side. Here the ground is partly out again at about 1200m altitude. There is enough snow on the ridge and near the summit and on most of the slopes. The backs are a bit exposed... barbed wire and the grade is partly visible and if you're unlucky you might even hit a stone or two. There are some large cornices on the slopes

Snow quality

Powder snow can still be found in sheltered hollows. On the north side too, but here it is largely wind-influenced or slightly snow-covered or with a lid. Good firn on the south side. But quickly turns into rotten snow. Safe surfing on the flat is possible.

Sliding snow mouths and slopes on grassy slopes above 35 degrees, especially on the southeast side in the summit area. Dry snow slabs are also possible below 2000m in extremely steep terrain, which still looks very brittle and easy to release.

Overall impression

Hörnerrunde with lots of ups and downs but very scenic. Finding good snow is becoming increasingly difficult, but with a bit of searching you can still find good runs. I recommend not too steep north-facing hollows for powder or south-facing ridges for firn fun
