Snow condition
Without the help of the Ehrwald cable car, the only way up from 1000m is via pistes. Next to the piste it looks like a rainy summer. No snow in the forest up to about 1300m. At 2300m below the rear Tajatörle, the hiking trails are partially exposed from the wind and the entire gravel slope is visible. For the ascent and descent you can circumnavigate areas with little snow. The Neue Welt descent looks quite poor in snow in places (see photo)
Snow quality
1 star would be hard ice flanks in all expos. Fortunately, contrary to expectations, it wasn't that bad. Despite the overcast sky, the warm foehn storm meant that most of the snow was nicely thawed and soft to ski. From about 2200m on the north side, hard pressed powder. Where there are no tracks in the "firn", the skiing is very smooth. Salty ice-crushed snow. That's how I would describe the snow in one word. And it skis better than it sounds.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Danger of falling in the steep terrain is a danger despite the superficially softened layers, as icy spots lurk from time to time and more and more rocks peek out. Apart from that, the one applies.
Overall impression
Mit der Hoffnung auf Pulverreste im nordseitigen Brendlkar leider enttäuscht worden. Trotzdem netter Ausflug mit toller Wolkenszenerie und ganz angenehmen Sulzschnee.
