Snow condition
The amount of snow in the northern Tannheimers is naturally low at medium altitudes. Many south-facing slopes are bare right up to summit level. It is not really possible to start from the valley and you have to carry or use bikes. Even the ski slopes in the lower areas are partly bare. Nevertheless, the snow conditions above 1800 and in areas not exposed to the sun are ok. The snowfall from Thursday to Friday was light and there were a few centimeters above 1600. We were able to ski from 2000m to approx. 1300m above sea level (with 2 short carrying points).
Snow quality
At the heights of our tour, a stable layer of snow had formed tonight. The quality of the snow on the descent then depended on the altitude and the exposure to the sun. On the descent, we found settled powder in the upper altitude meters, with some nice firn and broken harsch underneath, and the lower downhill meters were already very wet.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Due to the high temperatures and the snow/rain during the week, it is important to pay attention to wet snow and sliding snow. As our tour didn't go that high up, the main thing to watch out for was the moisture in the snow cover. The avalanche problem of drifting snow was not so relevant on our tour.
Overall impression
A lot is still possible with a bike and/or stretcher. We had a beautiful lonely day, were able to strap on our skis earlier than expected and then actually found quite a decent amount of snow. I only observed the following from a distance and the information is without guarantee: Some ski tourers also used the Füssener Jöchle valley run yesterday. In the Nesselwängl ski area, the closed snow cover starts at 1300m
