Snow condition

The toboggan run definitely allows a descent to Gasthof Arzkasten. A sensible line can be laid everywhere in the terrain and you can get back to the toboggan run with almost no stone contact. Nevertheless, the entrances to the gullies of the Wankspitze need a little more snow to be really fine. The entrances are doable, but require climbing down!

Snow quality

The snow quality was surprisingly good, especially on the shaded side, considering that everything was covered in snow and the last snowfall was some time ago. On the sunny slopes, a light cover forms in places, but this thaws quickly in the sun. All in all, you can ski on the snow, but you should bring some lard in your legs in places.

Due to the fact that there was a lot of tracked snow, the drift snow packs are limited. In untracked terrain, however, you can clearly see how the wind has worked and that smaller drift snow packs have formed. Watch out for sliding snow on the south side!

Overall impression

Naja, für die erste Tour der Saison eigentlich ganz nett. Südseitiger Aufstieg samt leichtem Sonnenbrand, nordseitig Abfahrt mit wechselhaftem Schnee. Was will man mehr um die Beine und Ski auf die Saison einzustellen. Insgesamt ein lohnender Tag, wenngleich man aktuell einfach auch realistisch sein muss und keine super Powderruns erwarten braucht.
