Snow condition
The westerly dust conditions have provided a few nice days and improved the previously very precarious situation somewhat. However, the precipitation has not worked miracles. The snow cover remains quite thin. Blown-off areas are still at risk from sharks.

Snow quality
The first descent was still quite good powder, which then became increasingly wetter and heavier and from midday onwards was no longer particularly nice to ski (especially as everything that was not dangerous was completely tracked). There was about 10-15cm of fresh snow. Old tracks and bumps were soft but clearly noticeable.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: strong
Above: 1900 m
Risks
Wind intensity: High (40 – 60 km/h)
Really tricky avalanche situation. Numerous break-offs seen in all exposures. With the daytime warming, spontaneous releases are also visible. There is a weak layer of old snow and very thick drift snow slabs on top.
Avalanche activity
Dry slab avalanche (medium)
Altitude: 2000 m
Snow slabs, loose snow and sliding snow avalanches. Some avalanche edges almost a meter high. Most avalanches small. But also large avalanches (probably blasting)
Overall impression
Nice morning in moderately steep and always heavily tracked terrain. Good snow in the morning and incredibly relaxed without crowds because the Sellrain road was closed. By midday, the snow was better for snowball fights and building snow sculptures than for skiing. Hopefully this will prevent more people from undertaking dangerous off-road activities in the near future and thus reduce the number of accidents and rescue missions.
