Nachmittagsrunde über die Hörner mit mieser nordseitiger Abfahrt
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Start in Gunzesried (890m) as the parking lots at the sawmill are full, icy ascent over the edge of the slope. Descent possible here without stone contact as there is plenty of snow. Snow groomers are on the way, so be careful and it's best to avoid large areas. south-facing descents are disastrous, especially when it gets steeper. Simply too little snow. It's also really bad on the north side of the Rangiswanger Horn. Here, everything that actually belongs in the ground is sticking out.
Snow quality
Of course there is still powder. But if it hasn't been torn up yet, it's because it's too flat or dangerous. So the best thing to ride are bumps where, with a lot of luck, no grass comes out when braking
Risks
Too little snow for avalanches. At least below 2000m you need talent to find a danger spot. In the surrounding higher areas, drift snow is still likely to be a problem.
Overall impression
If it wasn't on my doorstep and didn't look so wintry, I'd rather play chess than rub my skis on minerals and botany. Fresh air or not, there are few ski tours that make sense at the moment. the Hörnertour is not one of them. Best guess for the next few days when fresh snow arrives is hard to say. It will probably be best in Kleinwalsertal and on the Riedberger Horn where the base is best to avoid collecting new sharks.
