Snow report Salzburger Land North, 01/11/2020
Viel tragen für funky snow
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Lousy. Nothing really works below 1300m. At low starting points you have to carry a long way, but from 1400m you can't really accelerate anywhere. There are rocks, mountain pines and alpine bushes everywhere. You have to be constantly on your guard against obstacles or attacks from the ground, and the high altitudes look really bad with about 1 cm of fresh snow.
Snow quality
On the north side there is still a lot of powder, but it was only a little today. Already on the east side there is a crumbly cover. Further down there is a light cover on felt and pure sulz. But both of the last two were also quite ok to ski, provided you can still find something untracked, but in general the lack of snow limits proper skiing.
Risks
LBB Bavaria says a 1 everywhere and I can well understand that.I have seen a larger wet snow avalanche remnant from steep rock slabs, but there is probably not much left in the slopes.overall a quite high terrain roughness.
Overall impression
Three stars wouldn't be far away, but the lack of snow and the poor visibility in the upper part of the descent prevent that.
And you have to carry really far for some things.
Freak hit it yesterday: Like spring, only with little snow.
Let's see when something changes - but it's gloomy like this.
