Snow condition
We had chosen an almost purely north-facing tour today. The south-facing expos opposite were partly snow-free up to over 2000m. It almost brings tears to your eyes. On the north side, from around 1500-1600m, there is slowly something like a blanket of snow, which then increases with altitude. But it's still not much.
Snow quality
Approx. 10cm of settled powder on the still relatively soft drift snow from the last foehn phase, slight wind influence in the ridge area and the base was correspondingly harder. You can't expect much more at the moment.
Risks
I took a quick look at the snowpack structure and it's anything but intoxicating. Settled powder on 2 snow packs from the foehn phases, which in turn lie on a melt/rain crust. Underneath, everything has been transformed. Nevertheless, it was stable today at 40-45 degrees in the steepest area, the snow packs are well consolidated and set. No avalanche observations, except on the south/west sides of sliding snow mouths or old slopes. Nevertheless, I wouldn't underestimate the current situation and LWS 2! If something goes, then the probability that it will tear deep into the snowpack is relatively high.
Overall impression
Beautiful day, long approach, good snow for the generally poor conditions, I'm satisfied. p.s.(my first CR for a long time :)
