Saisonauftakt zum Freeriden in Sulden bei schönstem Wetter und Neuschnee

Snow condition
Overall, the snow conditions are poor and you have to go very high to be able to leave the slopes. From an altitude of approx. 2600m, the base and the fresh snow that has recently fallen are sufficient for freeriding. The last snowfall dates from 15.11 and brought about 10-20cm.
Snow quality
The snow quality varied greatly, as the snow fell under the influence of strong winds. There were slope areas with powder but also some with hard snow. These boundaries were difficult to recognize, which led to a few falls. Thanks to yesterday's good weather, the snow cover on the sunny slopes lost its powder. At the same time, the powder on the shady east and north faces was well preserved
Risks
The situation was quite critical. Entire summits and crests were blown off, snow slabs and loose snow avalanches could be seen on the slopes. The snow cover was heavily packed in places and snow slabs could even be kicked loose when climbing with skins.
Overall impression
The conditions were good for the first day of skiing in November. However, you had to be very careful and it took some time to find nice slopes.
